Getting there
There is no excuse as Switzerland is in centre of Europe and a must visit country, and is not as expensive as people think.
By Air
If you come with your own private jet there are more options. For every other fabulous traveller, Zurich has the largest airport followed by Geneva, Basel EuroAirport, Lugano, Bern and St.Gallen-Altenrhein.
Zurich is connected with nonstop flights to New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, Montreal, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Berlin, Vienna, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Rome, Milan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Dubai, Johannesburg, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Prague, Budapest among others.
Geneva is connected to New York, Doha, Beijing, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Athens, Amsterdam among others.
Basel offers a good alternative to Zurich which is only one hour away, main station to main station, low cost airlines offer more connection from the EuroAirport than Zurich.
Bern, Lugano and St. Gallen offers only short distance flights.
By Train
Switzerland is connected by train to Germany, France, Austria and Italy. EuroRail pass is a good way to visit Switzerland in your european trip.

Switzerland has different trains running in the country. Locals, regionals, intercity, eurocity and highspeed trains. If your journey is all inside Switzerland the price is the same no matter which one you choose to travel.
By Car
You need an international driving licence to drive, other requirements may apply.
If your journey involved any highway you must buy a sticker/vignette at the border or at the post office while in the country for the cost of 40.- Swiss francs. With this sticker you are allowed to travel for one calendar year on any highway all over the country.
In winter alpine route and high peak transit way are closed because of ice and heavy snow. Usually from end October to end April. Radio bulletins in local language can inform you on traffic details, your hotel can also find this information for you.
